Laura Covaci was born in 1964 in Bucharest, where she currently lives and works. She graduated in monumental painting from the Institute of Plastic Arts in Bucharest, studying under prof. Ion Stendl. She has a substantial international record, with long term residencies in both France and the US. About her own works, the artist says that they can be interpreted as an alternative “that comes from nowhere to the real world, peopled with creatures emerging from the unconscious”. She has recently also been working with 3D technology. Laura has participated in several group exhibitions in France, the US, Japan and Romania.
